Education

I was a French major/English minor at Dartmouth College and graduated summa cum laude in 2011. I received my Masters in Education from Johns Hopkins University, and I am currently pursuing a second master's degree in Reading and Language from the University of Massachusetts.

Experience

My first teaching experiences were as an undergraduate. I was an assistant in the French Department at Dartmouth, where I taught the oral component of French 1 and 2 using the Rassias Method. After graduating I joined Teach for America as an ESL teacher. I continued teaching ESL for eight years, working with students in grades K through 6. I then took on a new challenge in my career by becoming a Literacy Coach and reading specialist. I am currently in this role at a public elementary school in Massachusetts. In addition to my work in the classroom, over the summer I enjoy working with tutoring clients. After working with whole classes or small groups during the school year, I love having the opportunity to work one-on-one with my tutoring clients. It's always amazing to see the growth that students can make through personalized instruction. I have tutored students in a variety of areas, most recently French, middle school reading, and phonics/fluency. Thanks to my diverse educational and professional experiences, I feel comfortable teaching a variety of ages and content, and I like to mix it up.

Hobbies

At school, my students would describe me as caring, energetic, and no-nonsense. I am a very creative person and I have many hobbies including watercolor painting, cooking, yoga, and sewing. A fun fact about me is that I actually sewed my own wedding dress! Another new interest that I have developed during the school shutdown has been creating digital content for students. I've learned a lot over the past few months about creating interactive digital worksheets, games, and activities to increase engagement for online learning. I hope to bring some of this newfound knowledge to my tutoring clients this summer!
