Education
In 2005, I graduated Salutatorian from the private school, The Hun School of Princeton, in Princeton, NJ. In 2009, I graduated from Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA with a Double Major in English (GPA 3.23/4.0) and Studio Art (GPA 3.37/4.0). In June of 2012, I will be starting a Master of High School Education (Leading to Initial Licensure) program from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. In April, I will be taking the the Communications and Literacy portion of the MTEL and will have the first requirement completed to gaining a full teaching license in the state of Massachusetts.
Experience
From 2009-2011 I was a full-time AmeriCorps classroom teacher at Our Sisters' School (an independent, inner city, all girls middle school in New Bedford, MA). During the 2009-2010 school year, I taught 7th grade math and science and from 2010-2011 I taught 8th grade English and history. I have worked directly with the Massachusetts State Standards and aligned all four of my curriculums to meet these requirements. From July 2011 to February 2012, I completed a bike tour fundraising project entitled "Another Mile, Another Starfish" in which I biked with one other person from Anchorage, AK to Bay St. Lois, MS to raise $20,000 for Our Sisters' School and awareness for the education of disadvantaged youth. Overall, I have dedicated the last 10 years of my life to working with children, both in the states and abroad. While at Wellesley, I studied abroad in London, England and travelled throughout much of Europe. I have also been to Costa Rica and spent two summers working at a summer camp in Istanbul, Turkey. I have experience applying to and attending private high schools and colleges and have had the privilege of immersing myself in exceptionally demanding and rewarding academic environments. I bring a worldly, open-minded, and interdisciplinary approach to learning and plan to commit the rest of my life to educating youth and inspiring the next generation of students. I believe that education is one of the greatest gifts we can provide and that all children deserve the opportunity to succeed and achieve their dreams.

Hobbies
As a Studio Art major, I am very passionate about art, particularly installation art. I have a background in photography, book making, drawing, 2D and 3D design, painting, and sculpture. I have also taken pottery classes and hope to focus on this style of art during the next few years. I was the captain of my Ultimate Frisbee team at Wellesley College and have continued to play over the last few years on a team here in Boston. I have run the New Bedford Half-Marathon twice and completed the 2011 Boston Marathon as a bandit (one day I hope to qualify!). I rock climb, bike, and am deeply and passionately committed to a sustainable lifestyle. At home, I eat local, organic food and cook everything I possibly can from scratch (this includes bread, cheese, yogurt, etc.) and I have a good deal of farming experience. I volunteered for a year at Eva's Garden in Dartmouth, MA and grow as much of my own vegetables and herbs as possible. I hope to start a gardening and nutrition program at the school I work at after finishing my master's program. I also love to read; my favorite authors include Steinbeck, Joyce, and Camus. Aside from classic literature, I also love to read philosophy and supplement the knowledge gained from philosophy courses I took as an undergrad.
